I am running for Congress to rebuild our city and improve the quality of life in and around New Orleans. We face many challenges, like the need for affordable and accessible healthcare, more good jobs, and better quality education.
As the campaign progresses, I will lay out comprehensive plans to help get our economy back on track, create safer communities, improve our education system, address our healthcare crisis and the many other important issues facing us.
Jobs and the Economy:
Collaborating with local, state and federal agencies to expand job opportunities throughout the region
Continuing my support for small business growth and expansion
Reinforcing the ongoing efforts of local and national organizations to further economic development in and around Louisiana's 2nd district
Working to reduce deficit spending and protect the value of the American dollar in international markets
Education:
Securing more federal support for the New Orleans school system
Backing policies that reduce the cost to gain a college degree
Increasing parent/guardian-accountability in our Nation's public education system
Energy Policy:
Decreasing our country's reliance on foreign oil:
Encouraging drilling for oil and gas within our own borders
Promoting coastal restoration and flood protection projects through a dedicated percentage of revenue from oil exploration and shipments
Expanding research and development in alternative energy sources
Healthcare:
Assisting President Obama with the implementation of true health care reform
To provide high quality, affordable health care to all Americans
Securing federal funding to rebuild the district's healthcare infrastructure
Hurricane Recovery & Flood Protection:
Prioritizing hurricane protection and recovery in Congress
Ensuring the federal promises made to provide resources for Hurricane Katrina Recovery projects are kept
Gaining complete federal funding for Category 5 flood protection in Southeast Louisiana
Iraq/Afghanistan:
Bringing our soldiers home from Iraq and Afghanistan safely and swiftly
Redirecting wasteful and misappropriated funds in Iraq to the rebuilding of America's infrastructure
Ensuring that the brave men and women who serve are taken care of when they return home |
